Wow, I am so sorry to hear about what happened with your daughter! Too bad she couldn't have come to us! We would have been able to find out what was causing her check engine light to come on, fixed whatever it was and gotten h er to a test only station to pass her smog! I am guessing that she finally got it all squared away? Thank you for your comments, Candace!

Donna- a great post. My daughter had just that exact Catch 22 situation where her check engine light was on but no one could find what was wrong. But she couldn't pass her smog test (and my suggestion to just take out the check engine light fuse didn't work either...) because her check engine light was on but they couldn't fix her car... and so forth and so forth and meanwhile her penalties were mounting up because she couldn't register it because her check engine light was on and no one could fix it! (Sounds like Who's on First!).

I love the fact that there are now 'test stations'. It does make me feel more confident that they are not 'fudging' the results to get the business.

Thanks for the continued education.

Thanks, Jennifer! You are absolutely right with your analogy! In many ways, our vehicles are like an extension of our homes.
